Parentheses or Round Brackets (...)
كاربرد پرانتزها
پرانتزها در موارد زير به كار مي روند:
1- براي قطع جريان جمله به منظور ارايه ي توضيح اضافي
Example: The spread of drug in Afqanistan by occupying forces (and there is no doubt that it is deliberate) horrifies the world. A
يادآوري: با توجه به اين كه از جفت Commas و Dashes نيز استفاده مي شود، اگر توضيح اضافي نوعي القاء از طرف نويسنده باشد، ترجيحاً از Parentheses استفاده مي گردد.
2- از Parentheses براي اضافه نمودن توضيح كوتاه يا اطّلاعات اضافي در مورد اصطلاح يا واژه اي استفاده مي شود.
Example 1: Due to the spread of English language, the number of living languages (currently estimated about 6000) is decreasing rapidly. A
Example 2: The foundation of formal logic and of semantics was laid by German philosopher, Gottlob Frege (1848-1925) . A
3- براي نشان دادن گزينه ها از Parentheses استفاده مي شود.
Example: Playing (French) horn instrument is really difficult. A
4- در نوشتن شماره ي ليست در داخل متن از Parentheses استفاده مي شود.
Example: What should a book proposal prepared for a potential publisher include at least are (1) a content description, (2) an identification of the intended readership, (3) an explanation on the necessity or value of the book, (4) a comparison with any competing books already in prin. A
